My Cousin Raegan, who we are staying with, is getting ready to move house soon. She had a few pieces of furniture that she wanted to paint in preparation for the move. So we all pitched in and had a day of painting, which was fun.
And the final products.
We also introduced the family to the game of Dobble (Spot It) in the evening, and had a raucous night with a lot of laughs. They were also introduced to the Brain Waves quiz out of the Saturday Advertiser, but I won’t share the score unless we have something to brag about.
Just jumping back a few days to Greenbushes – I got caught up with the return of the Annex and the arrival into Mandurah and catching up with Matt and Kym that I didn’t provide the information on the other camping site. I really think it is worth a mention, as the camping spot was really lovely and a great place to go if you have kids. They only ask for a donation and you can stay up to 72 hours. There are flushing toilets, drinking water, a lovely playground and BBQ area, and a fresh water swimming area. It is also Pet friendly.
There are three camping areas here, this one is up the hill and is fairly tight. More suited to tents than vans. I would suggest walking up and scouting out a spot rather than driving up, as it is pretty tight to turn around if it is full.
There is a great camping spot at the base of the driveway before you go up the hill and would suit a bigger van.
There is another camping area behind the toilet block that would suit if you have a van.
They also had this little book exchange and a herb garden too. They ask for you to water the herbs to help keep them alive. Cute idea.
Just thought it was worth highlighting this as they have done a great job with this site and only a donation to stay, so keeps it cheap for families. You make the donation at the Petrol Station in town. Nice work Greenbushes!
Just reading about when Sam & Skiddy arrived in Freo. Check out the immigration museum on the waterfront . They have an excellent set up and you can check out when families arrived from UK. You can get your family name on the commemorative wall out the front. Its really nice. When we go back we’ll search for Nige’s arrival date etc. There’s a really thought provoking sculpture of a young child with a suitcase …. some little ones were sent by themselves .
Thanks Tania, we will have a look and see what we can find. That is good to know. x
