We just took it easy this weekend.
It has been really windy (and I am not talking about Col, although he has been pretty windy too)! And the rain has started too – we have had at least 4 rainy days recently which is the first rain we have seen since being down south of WA! It has been a while. It has been raining during the night while we have been sleeping, but loud enough to wake us up.
The first night that it rained it dropped 30ml in the one rain event. The wet season is going to be an interesting experience. I had been told that it just gets really humid during the build up and the rain doesn’t start until December, but that does not seem to be the case. Looks like it is going to be raining on an off from now on. It definitely intensifies the heat and the insects love it!
I actually bruise from the insect bites – not sure if it is the mozzies or the midgies, but whatever they inject into me causes me to bruise, an anti-coagulent perhaps. Hopefully that is all they are injecting!
Where is you spray Kris ,you do not want mozzie given diseases .Hate mozzies .
I have been spraying regularly Jo, just didn’t want to use Deet. Have accepted that there is no other options now. Getting bitten by mozzies and sandflies is annoying, and you are right there is also the disease risk. It has much improved since using the DEET products.
Pat reckons rapigel [the horse linament] relieves the mossie bites for her,it may be worth a try
Thanks for the tip Dave and Pat, I will give it a go. I have been using Soov which is awesome, but definitely not getting bitten as much now that I am using DEET.
